19th Century Jewish Life is maintained by the Jewish Studies program at Eastern Michigan University.

Queries of all kinds should be directed to admin AT

If you are a librarian, archivist, curator, or individual holder of documents related to nineteenth-century Jewish life, we would welcome talking with you about the possibility of making those documents available through our developing digital archives. We are interested in maps, letters, photographs, illustrations, periodicals, journals, playbills, immigration records, newspaper articles, and other forms of print ephemera that help reveal what daily life was like for Jews in the nineteenth century. While the current focus of the site is nineteenth-century Britain, we have plans to expand to consider both Europe and the Americas in the near future. We welcome inquiries about whether documents you own could be added to our digital collection.

If you are a teacher interested in the Teaching Fellows program, you can find more information here.

Please email us admin AT, if you would like us to add your event to the Calendar. Events need not be free, but should be open to the public. Please include event title, date, time, location, cost (if any), and contact details for further information/tickets (as needed).
